The Global Citizens International Movement expresses its gratitude for the mediation efforts exerted by the United Arab Emirates, which have been acknowledged by both sides as having resulted in the exchange of more than 200 prisoners between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine.

We’re hoping that this crucial humanitarian act could serve as a positive step towards strengthening confidence among all and enabling regular and constructive dialogue at all levels to pave the way for an end to the bloodshed in Ukraine.

The Coordinator-General dispatched pertinent letters of appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates and the Embassy of the UAE in Moscow and Kyiv.

Earlier, President Biden thanked the United Arab Emirates for mediating the release of American basketball player Brittney Griner.

Brittney Griner, one of the best basketball players in the world, was detained at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport on February 17, 2022. Griner spent ten months in detention.
